Unlocking Identity: Walking With the Father

It is so easy today to be focused on doing work for God yet ultimately forsake the place of intimacy with God. Bill Johnson (pastor of Bethel Church in Redding CA) states “busyness is the painkiller for the orphan spirit.” But how can you tell if you are walking in an orphan spirit? The word tells us that even though our mother or father should forsake us, God will not (Psalm 27:10). And He promises not to leave us as orphans (John 14:18). Jesus is the way to the Father and the Father has reconciled us to Himself through His Son, Jesus. The enemy seeks to erect barriers which keep us from coming into the fullness of intimacy with the Father and in our inheritance. But the Spirit of God is conforming us to the Father’s image, releasing true glory which comes when sons and daughters walk in union with God (John 17).

What is the difference between identity & calling? How do we walk the fine line of doing the ministry but keeping our hearts in a place of encounter with God?
